Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple

Gandamadana parvatham

Gandamadana Parvatham, also known as Rama Tirtham, is the location where Lord Rama’s footprints can be found on a chakra. Lord Rama is said to have rested here during his search for Goddess Sita after she was abducted by the demon Ravana. It is thought to be the first location where the Lord rested. Another legend has it that Vibhishana came here to meet Lord Rama and offer his assistance in the war against the demon Ravana. It is located on a hill about 3 kilometres from Rameswaram Temple.

Pamban Bridge

Pamban Bridge, located approximately 7 kilometres from the holy town, is an important part of the Rameswaram tour. It is India’s first bridge built across a body of water. Built in 1912, it was also the largest bridge in the world, second only to the recently built Bandra-Worli sea link. The view of the sea surrounding it, as well as the experience of being in the middle of a huge ocean, attract large numbers of visitors here.

Kalam’s House & Memorial

Another interesting place to visit in Rameswaram is the Kalam House. The first floor of what was once a home where late President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam spent his childhood with his parents and brother is now a museum. Visitors can get a glimpse into his life by viewing various items depicting his childhood, achievements, and works that have been kept on display. The house has an art gallery on the second floor, and the ground floor has been converted into a tourist shop.

Kalam Memorial displayed Kalam’s lifetime achievements, Indian cultures and diversity, and missiles and rockets on which he worked. Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Abdul Kalam memorial is located in Pei Karumbu Rameshwaram and is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Olaikuda Beach

In Rameswaram, Olaikuda is a well-known fishing village. The village has a lovely shoreline and a beach. This beach radiates peace and peaceful. During the winter, this calm and serene beach attracts a large number of migratory birds, including flamingos. It is also a natural bird sanctuary. The coast is surrounded by natural coral reefs, making it an excellent diving location.

Sangumal Beach

Villoondi Theertham

Villoondi Theertham is a beach with both aesthetic beauty and a rich cultural history. It is one of the 64 known Theertham (holy water body) locations. Every year, pilgrims flock here to bathe and purifies themself of all evil.The real attraction here is the water spring that emerges from the sea. 

Kunthukal Beach

Kunthukal is a village located nearly 20 minutes from Rameswaram and is best known as a fishing village. However, if you travel past this village and into its deep interior, you will discover one of India’s cleanest beaches. The beach has crystal clear waters and a large shoreline. You can swim in the beach’s waters and choose to surf here as well. The water and waves are warm and will envelop you in comfort.

Ariyaman Beach

Ariyaman Beach, also known as Kushi Beach, is located in Park-Bay. The beach is 150 metres wide and extends for two kilometres along the coast. The beach is unknown to many people and is largely unknown to the general public. The sea’s gentle waves can be found here, and the area has a pleasant climate all year.
